ARTICLE #100:
Our Readers Speak (April 1, 2000)

Hi, I think you should put your fears in something worth fearing. I mean mimes are not bad. It is just someone dressed up trying to perform something, they are actors.

Fear people who drink and drive, murders and killers, not someone who is dressed up trying to make someone forget about there troubles for awhile. Mimes take people to a fantasy world for a few minutes so they can forget there troubles, people who fear mimes probley fear the paint, I mean not knowing who the person is. You would probley fear someone walking down the street with any kind of face covering because you cant see them no matter how they dress.

I work in viruses an bio chemestry, I once walked down a street with full gear on including a gas mask and that is something to fear because we thought we let something lose and I had to test the air, Now fear that, not a defenseless mime who is your helper. Don't fear the hidden face, paint beats a gas mask any day.

Mimes are your friends, work through you fears, many are unfounded. Fear the dentist who has you in his power with sharp metal weapons in your mouth, not a mime. Fear the virus that could have wiped out thousands if it did get lose, not a mime. Geez, what is a mime to fear anyway. please tell me. I really do want to know.

Thoughts From Within The Club:

A message from the president of The I Hate Mimes Club
Dark Raven's letter above is certainly thought provoking. But more than that, it is deeply disturbing. As a child, I remember the first time I saw a mime, but it wasn't the makeup which bothered me so. It was mostly his sadness, which mirrored my own sadness inside. It was his silence, which triggered a rage inside of me - a rage that had been stifled countless times before. It was his passive control, similar to the way I was made to feel on a daily basis. Perhaps the mime's intent was to convey a feeling of empathy & cheer to my damaged soul, but in actuality he was reminding me exactly what I could not look at then.
This is the essence of The I Hate Mimes Club.
Sincerely, Elvis Shortliver
